ASIRVATHAM EXHIBITION TALK SERIES 2

Caregiver: Logan

Artist: Kim

A JOURNEY TOGETHER ❤️

Caregiver Logan and artist Kim shared their journey together — a beautiful story of understanding, acceptance and unconditional care.

Kim spoke about her own experiences and exposure to children with autism, and how deeply she was moved by Logan’s attitude towards caring for his daughter. His simple yet powerful belief captured the essence of his journey:

“Whatever comes, she is my daughter, and I will care for her until my last breath.”

Logan’s calm, upbeat and practical approach also stood out. Rather than being overwhelmed by the challenges, he chose to seek solutions, adapt and keep moving forward — reflecting the determination of a father who takes his responsibility seriously.

The sharing offered a glimpse into the relationship between caregiver and artist, and how listening to a caregiver’s journey can profoundly influence an artist’s understanding and interpretation.

It was a warm, cosy and heartfelt session, filled with honesty, admiration and quiet moments of connection. A beautiful reminder that every caregiver’s journey has a story worth sharing.

ASIRVATHAM EXHIBITION TALK SERIES 1

Caregiver: Rajendran K S

Artists: Wai Ling & Sunthari

BEYOND THE CANVAS 🎨

Caregiver Raj and artists Wai Ling and Sunthari shared the inspiration behind the stories they encountered and how these stories shaped the way they approached their artwork.

They reflected on the delicate balance between capturing a caregiver’s story authentically and preserving the artist’s own creative freedom and expression. How much should an artist interpret? How much should remain true to the story? Finding that balance became an important part of their creative journey.

Through their sharing, we saw how the role of an artist goes beyond simply creating a drawing. It involves listening, understanding, interpreting and carefully translating another person’s lived experience onto the canvas — while still allowing artistic expression to breathe.

It was a heartwarming and meaningful session, bringing together caregivers, artists and participants in a space of empathy, reflection and connection.

A session that truly made everyone present feel good. ❤️
